General Information
Initial Session
Our initial session will provide you with an opportunity to experience how I work as a therapist, and ask whatever questions you may have about the therapy process. The first session will also provide the opportunity for me to find out about your personal history, current challenges and future aspirations.
Contact
If something urgent arises in between sessions, which you feel you need to speak with me about, please contact me and I will try to return your call within 24 hours. If the scope of the call requires a significant amount of time, it may be best to arrange for an additional therapy session. In case of psychiatric emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
Referrals
If, due to your specific situation and needs, you require a professional with a different training background or area of specialization, I will provide you with an appropriate referral when possible.
Frequency of Sessions
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length and take place once or more weekly, depending on individual needs.
Cancellations
Please contact me by phone at least 48 hours prior to a scheduled therapy session if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Missed appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours notice are billed at the usual session rate.
*The fee for cancelled or missed sessions is not covered by insurance.
Confidentiality and Privacy
As a licensed therapist, I am required by law to keep all information regarding your sessions strictly confidential, unless you provide prior written permission or are in danger to yourself or others.
Insurance & Payment
Please contact me to discuss fees, as they can vary based on whether you will be using insurance or not, and other factors. Payments may be made by credit card, check or cash.
Insurance Reimbursement
I am an out-of-network provider for most insurance companies that provide mental health benefits. In many cases, I can bill your insurance company directly.
Many insurance companies provide significant reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services after you meet the annual deductible amount. Out-of-network benefits allow you to select any qualified therapist of your choice.
If you are unsure of your specific insurance benefits, you will want to contact your insurance company before you schedule your first appointment. You may want to ask them:
What are my mental health benefits?
Do I have “out of network” benefits?
What percentage of each session does the insurance pay for out-of-network providers?
What is my annual deductible amount, and has it been met?
How do I obtain reimbursement?
How many mental health sessions per year does my policy cover?
Is prior approval from the insurance company required for therapy sessions?
Is a primary care physician referral required for therapy sessions?
